Original Designation: no. 417 (p.287-88). Notification by the priors of the abbeys of Ramsey and St Ives and Master Robert of Hailes archdeacon of Huntingdon that a dispute concerning the advowson of Croxby church between Abbot Richard and the canons of Waltham on one side and on the other Abbot Geoffrey and the canons of Newsham and Ralph of Croxby on behalf of the heirs of Ralph of Lindsey has now been settled on the advice of prudent men experienced in the law and that the parties have bound themselves by oath to stand by the agreement: the abbot of Waltham in the sum of one hundred marks, the abbot of Newsham sixty marks and Ralph forty marks. The advowson is declared to belong to the abbot and canons of Waltham and perpetual silence is imposed upon the other parties who may not act against Ralph of Lindsey's charter granting the advowson of Croxby church to the canons; any agreement made between the abbot of Newsham and Ralph shall not be observed.
