314. Final concord between Stephen of Turnham and Edelina his wife, claimants, against Abbot William. Stephen and Edelina quitclaimed their rights in one and a half virgates and two hides in Battersea (Surr.) and the abbot granted them a piece of land in Westminster by the Thames next to the church of the Holy Innocents. Hec est finalis concordia facta in curia domini regis apud Westmonasterium die Mercurii in Festo Sancti Martini anno regni Regis Ricardi x coram E[ustachio] Eliensi P[hilippo] Dunelmensi episcopis G[aufrido] filio Petri Willelmo de Sancte Marie[] Ecclesie Willelmo Brawer Ricardo de Heriet Reginaldo de Argentom[] et aliis domini regis fidelibus ibidem tunc presentibus inter Stephanum de Turnham et Edelinam uxorem eius petentes per ipsum Stephanum positum loco eiusdem Edeline ad lucrandum vel perdendum et abbatem de Westmonasterio tenentem de una virgata terre et dimidia et duabus hidis terre cum pertinentiis in Patricheseye Unde recognitio de Morte Antecessoris summonita fuit inter eos in prefata curia scilicet quod predictus Stephanus et Edelina remiserunt et quietum clamaverunt de se et heredibus suis totum ius et clamium quod habuerunt in predicta terra eidem abbati et eius successoribus in perpetuum et pro hac remissione et quieta clamantia predictus abbas dedit predictis Stephano et Edeline quandam terram in Westmonasterio contra ecclesiam Sanctorum Innocentium cuius latitudo versus vicum continet xxxj ulnas et in medio continet xxxvij ulnas et versus Thamisam continet in latitudine xxxiiij ulnas et in longitudine quicquid continetur inter vicum de Westmonasterio et Thamisam tenend eiusdem Stephano et Edeline et heredibus eorum de predicto abbate et eius successoribus in perpetuum reddendo inde annuatim in Festo Sancti Michaelis eidem abbati vel eius successoribus unam libram piperis vel sex denarios pro omni servitio Et predictus abbas et successores eius debent warantizare predictam terram predictis Stephano et Edeline et heredibus eorum contra omnes homines Surr[] Middelsex
