32. HALTON HOLGATE, STEEPING, BENNIWORTH Elias son of Benedict and 'Sleina' his wife release Rannulf earl of Chester from all demands in respect of lands in Halton, Steeping and Keythorpe occasioned by any debt which Gilbert of Bermiworth owed them, reserving to themselves all their debt in respect of Bermiworth manor and of all Gilbert's other lands wherever they may be. The earl may retain five marks' rent in Bermiworth quit of debt for eight years beginning at Easter 1223; thereafter this sum will be under obligation for their debt like the other lands in that vill. Sciant omnes presentes et futuri quod ego Elyas filius Benedicti et Sleina [sic] uxor mea relaxavimus de nobis et de heredibus nostris Rannulfo Comiti Cestr[] et heredibus suis vel eorum assignatis totam demandam quam habuimus in terris de Hauton[] Steping[] et Kintorp cum pertinentiis occasione debiti quod Gilbertus de Beningwurth[] nobis debuit Retento nobis toto debito nostro super manerium de Beningwurth[] cum pertinentiis et super omnes alias terras ipsius Gileberti ubicumque fuerint preter predictas terras quas dicto Comiti de dicto debito relaxavimus Preterea concessimus eidem Comiti quod ipse vel heredes sui vel sui assignati teneant quinque marcatas redditus in Beningwurth[] quietas de predicto debito usque ad terminum octo annorum incipientium ad Pascha anno gratie millesimo ducentesimo vicesimo tertio et in finem illius termini dicte quinque marce nobis obbligabuntur pro debito nostro sicut alia terra in eadem villa Hiis testibus Stephano de Segrave Radulfo filio Reginaldi Gileberto Cusin Simone Clerico Mosse filio Asse Peytevin filio Manaser Leone filio Salomonis et multis aliis
