375 Agreement between William son of Hervey of Bathley and Wil-Ham of Southwell whereby William son of Hervey leases to William of Southwell, in consideration Of 14s.,27 selions in the territory of Bathley, consisting of two parcels of A and nine selions each for the term of six crops to be received by William of South-well, and during this time William son of Hervey is not to alienate the land to anyone except William of Southwell (29 September 1262). Anno domini m cc lx secundo ad festum sancti Michaelis facta fuit hec convencio inter Willelmum filium Herui de Batheley ex parte una et Willelmum de Suwelle filium quondam Nicholai Grantcurt[] ex altera videlicet quod dictus Willelmus filius Herui dimisit dicto W de Suwelle octodecim seliones terre arabilis in territorio de Batheley jacentes juxta viam que ducit ad Kyrkebrigge ex parte boriali et abutantes super terram dicti Willelmi ex parte occidentali et novem seliones in ye Wodewroe juxta terram abbatis de la Dale ex parte boriali jacentes et abutantes super boscum dicti Willelmi filii Hervy quos quidem seliones Willelmus filius Ricardi nativus dicti Willelmi quondam tenuit usque dictus Willelmus de Suwelle sex vesturas inde plenarie receperit tenend et habend dicto Willelmo et heredibus suis vel cuicumque dare vel assignare vendere vel legare voluerit integre pacifice usque ad terminum sex vesturas competentem Et sciendum est quod non licebit dicto Willelmo filio Hervy dictos seliones alicui vendere legare dare vel aliquo modo alienare nisi dicto Willelmo de Suwelle infra terminum qui competere possit sepedictis sex vesturis Item sciendum est quod post dictum terminum seliones dicto W filio Herui vel heredibus suis de dicto W de Suwelle absque alicujus contradiccione revertentur Pro hac autem dimissione et concessione dedit dictus W de Suwell[] dicto W in sua necessitate pre manibus quatuordecim solidos Et sciendum est quod dictus Willelmus filius Heruey dicto Willelmo de Suwelle vel suis assignatis dictos seliones contra omnes homines usque ad finem prefati termini warantizabit defendet et adquietabit In cujus rei testimonium alter alterius scriptum sigilli sui inpressione roboravit Hiis testibus etc
