AbstractSettlement with the Prior and Convent of Carlisle of a case before the Abbot of Holm Cultram and Prior of Wetheral as papal judges delegate, whereby Lanercost Priory is to keep the greater and lesser tithes of a new cultura of ten acres in Greenwell in the parish of Hayton, paying 5s. per year and 4d. for any extra acre. An existing undertaking that Lanercost Priory should not resume cultivation of a further ten acres without licence by Carlisle Priory is quashed, and Lanercost Priory is to remove buildings constructed in the past three years on the common pasture of Hayton. Quitclaim by Geoffrey son of Maurice of Dodnash and Isabella his wife of all prebends and corrodies, in food and drink, in corn and money and in all else, which they used to receive daily, weekly, monthly or yearly from the prior and canons, which they were obliged to provide in accordance with their charters, which Geoffrey and Isabella have in the presence of discreet men returned to them. Quitclaim also of all right in and claim to the land called 'Sortecroft' with its appurtenances, so that neither they nor their heirs may henceforth in perpetu- ity make any claim thereto. They have pledged on oath that, should they contra- vene this quitclaim, they shall pay the canons 40s as a penalty, on pain of excommunication by the bishop of Norwich, and shall pay to the crown a fine of 40s, on pain of distraint by the sheriff of Suffolk, and they renounce all legal appeal in this matter.
