    Universis, ad quos presentes littere pervenerint, indices, scabini, consilium et universi cives Colonienses in perpetuum cognoscere veri tatem. Ad presentium et futurorum perpetuam notitiam testimonio presentium pervenire volumus, quod nos singuli ac universi illustrem virum dominum Reynaldum dei gratia comitem Gelrensem et ducem Lymburgensem et universos suos homines ad comitatum Gelrensem pertinentes rebus et corporibus infra civitatem nostram Coloniensem et ante, supra Renum videlicet infra duos turres civitatis nostre in omnibus negotiis suis agendis in nostram perpetuam protectionem re- cipimus tamquam nostros concives, omni dolo et fraude penitus ex clusis. In cuius rei tesimonium sigillum civitatis nostre de omnium nostrum voluntate et consensu presenti scripto duximus apponendum.
