      Alexander etc. Dilectis filiis. . magistro et fratribus hos- pitalis etc. Canonica institutione cavetur quod monachi et ca- nonici regulares, quocumque modo se in claustrum percusse- rint, non sint ad sedem apostolicam destinandi sed secundum discretionem et providentiam sui abbatis discipline subdantur. Quod si abbatis discretio ad eorum correctionem non sufficit, providentia est diocesani episcopi adhibenda nisi excessus diffi- cilis fuerit et enormis propter quem merito recursus ad Roma- nam ecclesiam sit habendus. Nos igitur statutum huiusmodi ad vos duximus extendendum, auctoritate apostolica statuentes ut in tali casu nisi maioris sit providentia requirenda et excessus ut predictum est adeo gravis existat quod super eo apostolice provisionis auxilium debeat implorari, fratribus vestris absolu- tionis beneficium per fratres presbiteros vestri ordinis impenda- tur.
