132. Ratification by Thomas Becket archbishop of Canterbury of the compromise concerning the church of Ashen, after long litigation between the prior and convent of Stoke by Clare and Abraham. The latter resigned all right in the church into the hands of the archbishop, and for his withdrawal from litigation the prior gave him three marks and a pelisse. June 1162 - October 1164. Thomas Dei gracia Cantuariensis ecclesie minister humilis universis sancte matris ecclesie fidelibus salutem Noverit universitas vestra causam que inter priorem de Stok[] et Abraham super ecclesia de Essa diucius agitata est in presencia nostra transaccione decisam esse Que quidem de iure nitebatur eam confirmavimus et ne aliquo casu in posterum rescindatur presentis scripti testimonio communivimus Porro Abraham predicte ecclesie et omni iuri quod in ea habebat in manu nostra inperpetuum renunciavit Et ut recederet a lite memoratus prior iii marcas argenti donavit et pellicium
