719. c.29 September 1259. Agreement made at Michaelmas A.D. 1259 whereby Emma widow of Robert Beufys, in her free power, has leased to Richard son of William de Walesgrave certain land beneath the Earl's wood (subtus boscu(m) Comitis) which the father of the said Emma had given in free marriage (liberum maritagium) together with an adjacent meadow with all their appurtenances; the said land with the meadow aforesaid extending in length between the street (vicu(m)) called Hornewodeswey and the land of Matthew le Bolt(er)e, to be held to him, his heirs or assigns, or to whomsoever he will wish to give, sell, bequeath or assign, from Michaelmas of the year aforesaid for a term of 6 years. Mutual sealing clause [chirograph]. Witnesses: John Sym', William Leuwyne, Robert de Chilthon', Robert de Huchinton' clerk, Alan Odard of Radford (Radeford), Nicholas de Teinthon', Henry Beufys, Thomas his brother, William de Burmi(n)gh(am), Matthew le Boltere and others.
