164. Final concord made at York in 1 Ric. I when William, bishop of Ely, the king's chancellor, came to York, between Kirkstall abbey and Robert de Mohaut concerning a dispute about certain houses built by Robert in the common pasture of the Abbey at Aldfeld [in Riddlesden], whereby it was agreed that Robert should remove the houses and rebuild them on the east side of Spinkeswellesyke, the old site to be tilled by Robert if he wished and the abbey to have common pasture therein in accordance with the charter of Simon de Mohaut.
