(c) Agreement between Reginald of Whitchurch and the prior and convent, A.D. 1283 in the Octave of S. Matthew the Apostle, con- cerning common of pasture in the park of Wighill and two enclosures in the park- the prior and convent are to bave common of pasture from the Invention of Holy Cross to Michaelmas for 31 great beasts and in time of pannage for 31 pigs without agistment or pannage; Reginald has granted that the prior and convent may have in the old enclosure 8 oxen of their domain oxen feeding with Reginald's domain oxen, with free entry and egress- in time of pannage openings may be made, for the passage of the pigs, in the hedges surrounding the old enclosure and any new enclosure which Reginald or his heirs may raise; in return for this the prior and convent have granted that the new enclosure of 20 acres shall be thrown down at the end of 4 years-, any new enclosure to be raised by Reginald only with the consent of the prior and convent. Concerning the fishery in the water of Wharfe, the parties have granted to each other free right of fishery in their respective fees, with power to demise at farm. [A.D. 1283].
