Comment
Date: Note. Nicholas ap Gurgant held the see of Llandaff from 1148 to 1183. He was suspended in 1177, by Richard, archbishop of Canterbury, for invading the privileges of the bishop of Salisbury by giving benediction to the newly-elected abbot of Malmesbury, as in this letter he humbly acknowledges. The archbishop's letter tot he pope upon the case is printed among the Epistolae of Peter of Blois.
