1181 Pro ecclesia ibidem habenda cum baptisterio et sepultura. Rob. (Foliot), bp. of Hereford, grants the tithes of Stitt and permission to build a church in which canons shall have the right to conduct baptisms and burials. As the revenues are so small, they must only provide a hired chaplain to celebrate mass once a week (1179-1180). Universis sancte matris ecclesie filiis Robertus dei gratia Herefordensis episcopus eternam in Christo salutem Sciatis nos interveniente unanimi assensu capituli nostri concessisse inperpetuum canonicis regularibus Hagamanensibus ecclesie Coventrensis diocesis ad eorum sustentacionem augendam omnimodas decimas ville de Stutte et quia comperimus in visitacione nostra quod dicta villa non continetur infra limites alicuius ecclesie parochialis vicine eadem concedimus dictis canonicis licenciam construendi in dicta villa unam ecclesiam in loco quo nunc habent oratorium in qua sit baptisterium et sepultura et illam ecclesiam in suos proprios usus eis per nos et capitulum nostrum littere appropriatam dicti canonici inperpetuum habeant cum omnibus suis pertinentiis et prope exilitatem proventuum eiusdem faciant ei deserviri per unum capellanum conducticium saltem semel in septimana ibidem celebraturum et ammovendum ab ea pro voluntate eorum Testibus Willelmo Stokel Radulpho archideacono etc
