The prior and convent of Hexham agree to pay the prior and convent of Lanercost half a mark a year for the tithes of Greenside [in Farlam] for six years from Easter 1227, after which they will pay all the tithes to Lanercost unless otherwise agreed, reserving throughout to Lanercost the tithes of the servants and shepherds. Notum sit universis Christi fidelibus hoc scriptum inspecturis quod ita convenit inter priorem et conventum de Lanrecost[] et priorem et conventum de Hextild[] scilicet quod dicti prior et conventus de Hextil[] solvent annuatim dictis priori et conventui de Lanrecost[] nomine decime pro decimationibus de Grenesetes dimidiam marcam argenti a proximo pascha anno gracie m cc xxvii per spacium sex annorum Ita siquidem quod evoluto termino sex annorum omnes decimationes prescriptis canonicis de Lanrecost[] de prefatis Grenesetes decetero plenarie persolvent nisi tunc amicabili compositione inter ipsos alias convenit salvis eis omnibus decimationibus servientum et pastorum de memoratis Grenesetes usque ad finem prefati termini et postea Et ne hoc amicabilis compositio in recidivam contentionem denuo deducatur eam tam verbo fidei quam sigillis capitulorum suorum confirmaverunt
