284 Agreement between William of Englefield and Alan Basset of Ipsden whereby William agrees to pay Alan 100 s. annual rent at Ipsden (Oxon) for only as long as Isabel widow of Alan de Dunstanville shall live. At her death the land from her dower which might have gone to William shall remain to Alan. Date: MS.- P.R.O. E 210-124. Calendared- Cat. of Ancient Deeds, 111, p. 418. Description- 2 P-4 x 9'-2 cm, indented at top. Sea] tag only. Notes- In no. 154, a fine of 28 April 1241, Isabel was already a widow, and this same rent was arranged, but its payment times differ. The fine contains a fuller statement of how dower lands of Isabel should at her death revert to Alan and not to William. Cf. no. 155. See Appendix, no. 6 for the first witness
