[1303] 475. John abbot of Sallay revised the agreement made by his predecessor Roger with John Graindorge by which the abbey was entitled to a third of the profit, wood and pasture of Barrowby. This right the abbot resigned for the term of twenty years during which their mutual leases were to run, but reserved the right to resume his lands if Graindorge attempted to sell or alienate them. Hoc cirographum testatur quod cum quedam scripta confecta fuerunt inter dominum Rogerum abbatem et conventum de Sallai et Johannem de Graindorge apud Bergh[] de bruamento capiendo et faciendo inter predictos abbatem et Johannem Grandorge ita quod predicti abbas et conventus debuissent percipere tercium denarium totius proficui bosci et pasture de Berg[] nos quidem Johannes abbas de Sallai et ejusdem loci conventus remittimus dicto Johanni Graindorge totum clamium nostrum in predicto appruyamentis per totum tempus convencionis nostre facte per quedam scripta de termino xx annorum ita tamen quod si predictus Johannes vel heredes sui vel assignati per aliquam fraudem vel collusionem dicta tenementa que de ipso habemus ad terminum vendere alienare vel elongare voluerit infra terminum nostrum istud scriptum nostrum sibi concessum nullum robur habeat in posterum sed extunc licebit nobis ad pristinum statum nostrum tenend et habend revertere et omnia tenementa nostra cum omnibus pertinenciis libere intrare et possidere sine calumpnia et impedimento dicti Johannis vel heredum aut assignatorum suorum In cujus rei testimonium presenti scripto cirograpfato utraque pars signum suum alternatim apposuit Testibus Philippo de Arundel Nig[] de Wetherby Rogero de Lintona et aliis
