Ricardus comes Devon[] omnibus baronibus et hominibus et amicis suis francis et anglis salutem Sciatis me concessisse et carta mea confirmasse donationem quam Walterus filius Segar fecit ecclesie de Cristeschurche et canonicis regularibus ibidem Deo servientibus atque servituris in perpetuam elemosinam de terra sua de Cristeschurche et de Melneford et [similiter] concedo et confirmo concessionem quam Hugo Peverel qui predictam terram predicto Waltero pro servicio suo dedit fecit eidem ecclesie et volo et precipio quod predicta ecclesia predictam terram ita libere et quiete et honorifice et in pace teneat sicut Hugo Peverel carta sua confirmat Hiis testibus Roberto de Sancte Marie Glise Willelmo de Vern[] et aliis

Date: Issued after no. 49 (a general confirmation which does not mention this gift), but before Richard's death. It was, in fact, later believed that this gift had been made after his demise (below, no. 56). Only the rubric of Walter's charter was entered in the cartulary (f 72), as follows- Carta Walteri Segar de terris ei salinis in Mulleford, For Hugh Peverel's confirmation, witnessed by Earl Richard, see below, Appendix 1, no. 12
