To his burgesses of Newport on the River Medina, Isle of Wight [Summer 1189 x Michaelmas 1191] Grant of all the privileges of free burgesses throughout his lands, with exemption from attendance at the shire and hundred courts of the Island, pasture rights at Parkhurst (Isle of Wight) and freedom to choose their reeve; for which each burgess shall pay an annual rent of 12 pence. Date: Issued while Richard was earl, i.e. after his creation as such by King Richard between his accession and departure for the Holy Land in December 1189, but before Michaelmas 1191 when he was apparently dead (below, Appendix 1, no. 22).
