Will[elmus] comes Gloec[estrie] omnibus baronibus suis et probis hominibus atque amicis suis et fidelibus salutem Sciatis me concessisse abbatie canonicorum regularium de sancto Aug[ustino] de Brist[ou] donationem illam de Aumodesbiria cum suis pertinentiis in bosco et plano in pratis et pasturis et aquis cum soccha et saccha et thol et them et infangenethief et cum omnibus libertatibus suis quam Robertus filius Hard[ingi] illi dedit Et ideo firmiter precipio quod predicti canonici terram predictam cum omnibus suis pertinentiis et supradictis libertatibus bene et honorifice pacifice libere et quiete teneant Ego enim Roberto filio Hard[ingi] Aumodesbiria[m] cum suis pertinentiis in feodo et hereditate pro suo servitio donaveram Et ut predicta rata permaneant carte mee munimine confirmavi t[estibus] etc

Date: Since Robert Fitz Harding's foundation charter for St. Augustine's included Almondsbury, it is possible that Earl William's confirmation was issued at the time of the abbey's official beginning, i i April 1148 (Dugdale, Monasticon, vi. no. 1, 366; VCH Gloucestershire, ii, 75; Knowles and Hadcock, 130 and n.).
