19. Notification by the prior of Woodbridge and the deans of Lothingland and Claydon that they have received a mandate of Pope Gregory IX, dated at Perugia 21 May 1229, recounting the complaint of the prior and canons of Holy Trinity, Ipswich, that the prior and canons of the church of Dodnash, subject to their monastery, have refused to render the obedience and reverence due to their mon- astery, and that they and others of Norwich and Lincoln dioceses have caused them injury in things due to them and otherwise; they are to convoke the parties, hear the case and decide the matter in accordance with justice, with no appeal permitted, enforcing their judgement by ecclesiastical censure. .... At last, after much altercation, the action between the parties was brought to a resolution, for the sake of peace, in the following manner. The prior and convent of Ipswich have withdrawn all complaint and action against the prior and canons of Dodnash relating to the above matters, in return for a rent of twenty pence. This agreement was made with the consent of Thomas, bishop of Norwich, and the document is sealed with the seals of the judges, the bishop and the parties. 16 May 1232 (Agreement, Settlement, ) Givers: unknown (Prior of Woodbridge Priory), unknown (Rural Dean of Norwich Cathedral - Suffolk - Lothingland), unknown (Rural Dean of Norwich Cathedral - Suffolk - Claydon) Receivers: Ipswich - Holy Trinity Priory, Dodnash PriorySource Regest:
