179 Notification by the same Ralph that he is obligated to the canons of Dale in the sum Of 31-2 marks to be paid on 3 May 1263- In case of non-payment the canons are to remain enfeoffed of all his land in the park of Kirk Hallam lying between the ditch of the late Walter of Morley and the hedge beyond le Waterfalsike in breadth and between the hedge adjoining his house and le Echengreue in length, together with the timber growing there, saving Ralph's right of cartage from his house to the park by way of the aforesaid ditch (11262-3) (Obligatio, DALE, DERBYSHIRE (ENGLAND)) Givers: Ralph son of Hugo of Hallam Receivers: Dale Abbey

Noverint universi quod ego Radulphus filius Hugonis de Halum teneor domino abbati et conventui de la Dale in tribus marcis et dimidia legalium sterlingorum eisdem canonicis die invencionis sancte crucis anno domini m cc lx tercio sine ulteriori dilacione apud la Dale plenarie persolvendis Quod si predictum diem non servavero ad plenum dictam non solvendo peccuniam ex tunc remaneant iidem feofati canonici de tota terra mea in parco de Kyrkehalum que jacet inter fossatum quondam Walteri de Morley et sepem ultra le Waterfalsike in latitudine et inter sepem ubi domus mea restat et le Echengreue in longitudine cum tota vestura nemoris desuper cressente salvo mihi et heredibus meis tantum chimino de domo nostra in parco per fossatum quondam Walteri de Morley sicut habere solebamus In hujus rei testimonium diverse partes diversis scripti partibus alternatim sua signa apposuerunt Hiis testibus etc
