Rogerus de Clara comes Hertfordie omnibus hominibus et amicis suis Francis et Anglicis presentibus et futuris salutem Sciatis me dedisse et hac presenti carta mea confirmasse Deo et ecclesie Sancti lohannis Baptiste de Stokes pro salute anime mee et antecessorum meorum centum solidatas terre in eadem villa de Stokes si ibi centum predicte solidate integre et plenarie fuerint Sin autem in manerio de Tachestede dono predicte ecclesie quantum in villa de Stokes defecerit ita quod plenarie centum solidatas terre habeant Volo itaque et firmiter precipio quod predicta ecclesia Sancti lohannis bene et libere et quiete et pacifice ab omni seculari exaccione et servicio quietas predictas centum solidatas terre in perpetuam elemosinam possideant Huius mee donacionis et confirmacionis testes sunt Walterus filius Roberti Ricardus de Clara frater comitis Walterus filius Gilleberti Hamo Pecc[atum] Robertus filius Hunfridi Reginaldus de Cruce et alii
