259. Final concord in the king's court at Westminster between Philip de Dammartin and Letia, his wife, and Abbot Elias of Reading, by which the former quitclaimed to the latter the service of 20 1/2d which they were demanding from 3 1/2 hides of land in Lenborough, and conceded the said land to the abbot in perpetuity for an annual farm of 1/2 mark and 4s 3 1/2d for castle-guard at Rochester; for this the abbot gave them 20s. 2 Dec. 1201 (Final ConcordLENBOROUGH, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE (ENGLAND)) Givers: Philip de Dammartin Receivers: Elias (Abbot of Reading Abbey)

Hec est finalis concordia facta in curia domini regis apud Westm[onasterium] a die sancti Martini in tres septimanas anno regni regis Iohannis tertio coram g[aufredo] filio Petri Symone de Pateshull[] Iohanne de Gestling[] Godefr[ido] de Insul[a] Waltero de Creping[] iustic[iariis] et aliis fidelibus domini regis ibidem tunc presentibus inter Phil[ippum] de Da[m]martin et Letiam uxorem suam petentes et Helyam abbatem de Rading[ia] tenentem per Gaufr[edum] de Norwic[] positum loco suo ad lucrandum vel perdendum de servitio trium hydarum terre et dimidie cum pertinentiis in Libingeberg[a] unde placitum fuit inter eos in prefata curia et unde predicti Ph[ilippus] et Let[ia] exigebant xx denarios et obolum de servitio quos predictus abbas non cognovit se debere Scilicet quod predictus Ph[ilippus] et Let[ia] quiet[]clamaverunt pro se et heredibus suis predicto abbati totam demandam quam habuerunt in dicto servitio xx denariorum et oboli in perpetuum Et idem Ph[ilippus] et Let[ia] concesserunt predicto abbati et successoribus eius totam predictam terram cum pertinentiis tenend de se et heredibus ipsius Let[ie] in perpetuum per servidum dimidie marce argenti per annum de firma et iiii solidorum et iii denariorum et i oboli pro warda castelli de Rovecestr[ia] pro omni servitio salvo forinseco servitio reddende ad festum sancti Michaelis ad Chelesfeld Et pro hac concessione fine et concordia predictus abbas dedit predictis Ph[ilippo] et Let[ie] xx solidos sterlingorum
