277. Notification by Robert [Foliot], bishop of Hereford, and Simon, abbot of St Albans, judges-delegate of Pope Alexander III, of the settlement before them of the action brought by Reading Abbey against Bristol Abbey concerning the churches of Berkeley Hernesse. Bristol shall hold the churches in the name of Reading and shall pay Reading 20 marks annually, and the two abbeys shall co-operate in recovering from Gloucester Abbey what has been withheld from the same, and shall share equally between them the acquisitions they may secure.
