Record of the plea of Isaac son of Isaac, Jew, of Wilton, against the abbot of Beaulieu, touching a debt of £20 in respect of certain lands of Ralph of Blashford (?); the counterpart of the indenture was not in the archa at Wilton as Isaac had claimed and he was therefore committed to prison for deception. 1267-8. Isaach filius Ysaach judeus de Wilton[] fecit venire abbatem de Bello Loco tenentem terras que fuerunt Radulfi de Blac[] et exigebat de predicto abbate xx libras quas sibi debet occasione prefatarum terrarum quas tenet et cetera per quoddam cirographum xx librarum in quo cera dependet sub nominibus predicti Radulfi et Ysaach de Beverl[] confectam r[] ad nativitatem sancti Johannis Baptiste anno xx x marcas actum et cetera die dominica ante Natale Domini Et altera pars est in archa ciro[] apud Wilton[] Predictus abbas per suum attornatum venit et dicit quod injuste ab co exigit predictum debitum eo quod pars predicti ciro[] non est in archa predicta Et ex officio justiciarii preceptum est ciro[] de Wilton[] quod ad archam accedant et ab archa extrahant predictam partem et omnia alia instrumenta sub nominibus predicti Radulfi et predicti Ysaach et quorumcunque aliorum judeorum ita quod ea habeant coram et cetera die lune proximo ante festum sancti Dunstani justiciario et cetera liberanda Et super hoc predicte partes habent diem de die in diem usque predictum diem lune ad quem diem predicti ciro[] mandaverunt per literas suas sigillatas quod nullum cirographum xx librarum nec de aliquo alio debito fuit in predicta archa sub nominibus predicti Radulfi et predicti Ysaach de Beverl[] Et quia post mortem predicti Ysaach de Beverl[] mandatum fuit ciro[] Marleberg[] quod inquiretur que catalla predictus Isaach habuit Et dicti ciro[] mandaverunt quod una carta xx librarum sub nominibus predicti r[] de Blac[] et predicti Ysaach fuit in custodia Sal[] de Merl[] Et preceptum fuit similiter quod haberent omnia catalla in dicta archa inventa sub nominibus predicti r[] et predicti Ysaach Et predictus Ysaach filius Isaach adivit dictum Sal[] de Merl[] qui dictum cirographum xx librarum habuit in custodia et illud ciro[] cepit et in quadam pixide posuit et illud portavit et justiciariis sub quodam sigillo tradidit dicendo eis quod ciro[] de Merl[] eis miserunt ab archa predicta quod nunquam in predicta archa fuit Et quia quietum est per inquisicionem de Merl[] et de Wilton[] quod nullum cirographum jungens ad predictum ciro[] quod protulit coram et cetera est in aliqua archa predicta Et predictus Ysaach filius Ysaach decepit justiciarios per predictum ciro[] quod protulit sicut predictum est Ideo consideratum est quod predictus abbas de Bello Loco tenens terras que fuerunt predicti r[] et predictus r[] et heredes sui quieti sint de predicto debito et predictus Ysaac filius Ysaac commititur prisone et predicta carta dampnata liberata est attornato predicti abbatis
