71. Grant by Robert de Ferrers II, earl of Derby, to the Priory of the tithe of rents paid to him by tenants of the burgages in New- borough (Staffs.) added to the town by his father or himself, or to be added in the future. In return, Robert son of Wakelin of Rod- burn is free from an annual payment to the Priory of one mark in respect of Egginton. In addition, the earl has granted the Priory the "parish" of Newborough. He also issues a notification that Ralph son of the hunter (venator) has granted the Priory two bovates in Hollington. (1141). Anno ab incarnacione domini m c quadragesimo primo ego Robertus junior comes de Notingham concedo et do huic ecclesie sancte Marie Tuttesbur[] omnem decimam denariorum de Novo Burgo quem pater meus accrescere fecit et de hoc quod ego accrevi aut accrescere faciam videlicet de redditibus domorum hujus ville et hoc facio pro salute anime mee et patris et matris mee et maxime pro solucione marce argenti quam Robertus filius Wakelini de Roburna huic ecclesie solvebat singulis annis de Heginton[] post mortem Hauwisie matris mee Sciant igitur presentes et posteri quod ego et prior et omnes monachi hoc pacto predictum Robertum ab hac marca argenti liberum acclamavimus et fecimus inperpetuum Huic eciam predicte donacioni adjeci omnem parochiam de Novo Burgo sicut de veteri Quam donacionem per unum cultellum super altare sancte Marie optuli astante priore ceterisque monachis et baronibus meis scilicet Alano de Leica etc Sciant igitur presentes et posteri quod Radulfus filius venatoris dedit huic ecclesie duas bovatas terre in Holinton[] pro anima uxoris sue et pro animabus antecessorum suorum liberam ab omni servicio
