Walter of Guiseley grants licence to assart within stated bounds in Cumquenecath, and swears not to make, nor encourage others to make, any plea over that land or any other assart or hedge-dyke made in Cumquenecath before Martinmas 1243. Omnibus ad quos presens scriptum pervenerit Walterus de Geseley salutem Noveritis me concessisse priori et conventui de Lanr[ecost] licenciam essartire totam terram in territorio de Cu[m]q[u]enecath[] infra has divisas scilicet a sepe Hugonis filii Moliner usque ad quercum crucesignatam versus orientem et sic ab illa quercu descendendo usque ad vallem iuxta Hardhrist et sic per illam vallem descendendo usque ad vallem que descendit a capite dicte sepis et insuper promisi dictis priori et conventui et tactis sacrosanctis evangeliis juravi me nunquam moturum querelam contra dictos priorem et conventum super predicta terra nec super aliqua alia essarta sive sepe levata in territorio de Cu[m]quenecath[] a principio mundi usque ad festum sancti Martini anno gracie m cc xliii nec procurabo querelam ab aliis contra ipsos moveri super predictis Dicti vero prior et conventus extra dictas sepes nullum facient essartum sine licencia dicti w[alteri] In cuius rei testimonium huic scripto sigillum meum apposui Testibus
