1279-08-03, LANERCOST, CUMBERLAND (ENGLAND)
Theffania and Margaret Werry withdraw their claim against the prior of Lanercost, brought before itinerant justices [as no. 234 but with no mention of year], for a certain charter which had belonged to Nicholas the son of John Werry, acknowledging that it had not been placed in the prior's keeping. Universis Christi fidelibus [etc] ut supra Noverit universitas vestra quod cum nos aliquando peteremus quandam cartam que fuit Nicholai filii johannis Werri versus priorem de Lanrecost[] coram justiciariis itinerantibus primo in comitatu Northumbr[] postea in comitatu Westm[] et demum in comitatu Ebor[] per breve domini regis nos veritate super dicta carta inquisita scientes dictam cartam custodie dicti prioris non fuisse traditam et ideo cognoscentes nos nullam justam actionem habere ad dictam cartam de dicto priore petendam petitionem nostram antedictam et etiam actionem omnino relinquimus et dictum priorem a redditione dicte carte per presens scriptum nostrum acquietamus et pro nobis et heredibus nostris inperpetuum quietumclamamus In cuius rei testimonium [etc] ut supra Testibus ut supra Datum apud Lanrecost[] iii non Augusti anno Domini m cc lx x nono
