39. HUTTOFF Agreement between Bullington priory and Robert son of William of Well. Robert may keep five score of his demesne sheep, or those of his Sutton tenants, in Huttoft in the pasture beyond the Hauedik where Robert's ancestors or tenants used to have common, provided they keep off the priory's demesne pasture or severalty. The priory may impound sheep on the pasture four times a year and retain any above five score pending satisfaction, as also if they stray through not being guarded. Anno domini mcc quadragesimo secundo in festo sancti Cuthberti convenit inter priorem et conventum de Bulington ex una parte et Robertum de Welle filium Willelmi de Welle ex altera scilicet quod predicti prior et conventus concessunt dicto Roberto et heredibus suis habere de dominicis ovibus suis vel de ovibus tenentium suorum in Sutthuna quinquies viginti tantum in territorio de Hotoft in pastura extra le Hauedik ubi oves antecessorum vel tenentium dicti Roberti solebant comunicare ita quod dicte oves nunquam veniant ad aliquam dominicam pasturam vel comunicent ubi prior et conventus suum several habuerint Numerus quinquies viginti ovium in prefata pastura per Robertum vel per heredes suos vel per tenentes suos vel illorum assingnatos nullo tempore possit superaugeri Et licebit priori et conventui quater per annum cum voluerint oves de pastura predicta inparcare et omnes oves quas ultra quinquies viginti invenerint retinere quousque pro tali excessu secundum legem dicte pasture et marissci eis rationabiliter fuerit satisfactum Et dicte oves erunt in dicta pastura sub custodia ita quod si intraverint vel exierint alicubi pro defectum custodie in dampnum vel in dominicam pasturam prioris et conventus dicte oves inparcabuntur in parcum prioris et conventus donec eis pro eisdem ovibus rationabiliter ad plenum fuerit satisfactum Ad huius rei securitatem scripto quod penes priorem et conventum residere debet Robertus pro se et heredibus suis et suis tenentibus sigillum suum apposuit Hiis testibus Nicholao tunc priore de Sixl[] Roberto de Tatersal[] Johanne de Orreby Roberto de Wilheby Jolano de Hamby Haraldo filio Umfridi Eudone de Farlestorp Johanne de Auford Willelmo de Bleseby Galfrido del Part Willelmo de Croft Simone et Jordano de Asfordby
