Date: Issued after Ralph, who witnesses, became archdeacon (Bartholomew of Exeter, p 127) and before Pope Lucius 11's dated confirmation (Rec. S. Martin des Champs, ii, 150). The presence of the bishop, four archcleacons and five canons (and the description of the monastery as merely iuxta civitatem) suggests the charter was issued from Exeter, whence doubtless the attesting burgesses also came
