Omnibus sancte Dei ecclesie fidelibus tam futuris quam presentibus Ricardus comes Divon[] salutem Cognitum sit vobis atque certissimum me dedisse canonicis de Christi ecclesia xx solidatas terre in manerio meo de Christi ecclesia in excambium videlicet de Tedelingeham quam Reginaldus de Albamara eis donaverat pro anima Jordani de Insula Hanc autem terram de Tedelingeham totam cum hominibus et omnibus pertinentiis suis reddidi et reconfirmavi Deo et abbatie de Quarraria liberam et solutam et quietam ab omnibus terrenis servitiis et donis et auxiliis et exactionibus universis et hoc bene concessit et firmiter confirmavit prior et conventus predictorum canonicorum de Christi ecclesia coram me et baronibus meis quia scilicet hec terra de Tedelingeham primum fuit abbatie de Quarr[] a patre meo data et per cartam ipsius et meam cum omnimoda libertate confirmata Volo igitur et precipio ut eam habeat et teneat bene et in pace et secure et honorifice sicut liberam elemosinam patris mei et meam et prohibeo modis omnibus ne aliquis hominum meorum in terram illam manum mittat neque aliquam molestiam vel contrarietatem inde monachis de Quarraria faciat Teste Henrico de Riveriis Willelmo de Vern[] Hugone Peverel Gaufrido de Insula Roberto Trencard[] Peverello de Argent[]

Date: Ratifications of this exchange between Quarr and Christchurch, both witnessed by Earl Richard 1, are dated 1161 Quarr Charters, p 46, nos. 181-2) but must also postdate no. 49 above, which makes no reference to it. For Reginald's charter in favour of the canons, see Christchurch cartulary, i, f 105, made on the settlement of a dispute between him and Geoffrey cle Insula. For the location of Tidelingham, see Quarr Charters, p xx, map 4, and for its earlier confirmation to Quarr, nos. 17, 42 above. Confusion persisted, however, as Reginald's son and grandson both confirmed it to Christchurch (Christchurch cartulary, i, f 105v)
