Comment

Date: The final concord was made in the curia regis in the year ending Michaelmas 1188, when account was rendered for a fine of two and a half marks paid by Maurice to the crown (PR 34 Henry 11, 59). The notification is after 13 Novem- ber 1188, when Geoffrey was not yet archdeacon (EEA vi, no. 272), but before the death of King Henry II. Simon of Thunderley held one fee of the honour of Brittany in 1210-12 (Red A Exchq., 480); to this honour there pertained in 1096 two manors in Bentley (DB ii, 295b). Probably before 1202 Simon confirrned a grant to SS Peter and Paul, Ipswich, by Roger Bigod of nine acres of his fee at Ifintlesbam (Ipswich, SRO, HD 226, fo. 20r).
