    Rectori et thesaurario ducatus Spoleti, ut ad reprimendas bannitorum insolentias stipendiarios tenere possint. Reg. An. VI. Secret. ep. 493. fol. 121.

    Iohannes episcopus etc. Dilectis fihis Magistro Raynaldo de sancta Arthemia Rectori, et Iohanni de Amelio Thesaurario ducatus Spoleti, salut. etc. Cum nonnulh de ducatu Spoletano, eorum culpis exigentibus, forbanniti per insolentias eorundem cu- riam tuam, fili Rector, et pacem dicti ducatus fre- quenter perturbare presumant: Nos ad eorum re- primendum conatus nepharios intendentes, volumus et discrecioni vestre per apostolica scripta rnanda- mus, quatinus stipendiarios necessarios ad ipsorum bannitorum insolentias reprimendas, de quibus vide- ritis expedire, pro eo tempore, quo necessarii fue- rint, vobiscum habere curetis. Volumus autem, et vobis sub debito fidelitatis et virtute prestiti iura- menti, quibus nobis et ecclesie Romane tenemini, et ammissionis gratie nostre pena districte preci- piendo mandamus, ut sufficientes ad hoc stipen- diarios assumatis, qui sufficientibus equis et armis muniti equitare semper valeant, cum expedit, et servire, nec ahqui stipendiariorum loco, qui sti- pendia lucrantur dumtaxat et non serviant, ut assolet fieri frequenter, sub quovis pretextu per quempiam submittantur.
