Original Designation no. 531 (p. 364). Grant and quitclaim by Alan the clerk son of Gwimar to the canons in free alms of a messuage and six acres of land beside the canons' court in Wrangle and of all his land in Briscoteholm in Leake which Simon le Bret had granted to him and which he has held of the canons. In his full power and in the prosperity of his life, he has given seisin of these lands to Abbot Richard in the presence of the abbot's full court at Wrangle. Sciant presentes et futuri quod ego Alanus filius Gwimari concessi et dedi et hac mea presente carta confirmavi deo et ecclesie Sancte Crucis de Waltham et canonicis regularibus ibidem deo servientibus in liberam puram et perpetuam elemosinam totam terram meam cum suis pertinenciis in Wrengle et Lek quam Symon le Bret vetus dedit michi et cui illam dare vellem pro homagio et servicio meo et quam aliquando tenui de prefatis ecclesia et canonicis de Waltham scilicet unum mesuagium et sex acras terre cum pertinenciis que iacent iuxta curiam predictorum canonicorum in Wrengle et totam terram cum pertinenciis quam habui in Briscoteholm in Lek que abutissat super terram que fuit Gode Pastoris versus orientem et super le Fengate versus occidentem que iacet inter terram que fuit Stephani filii Roberti et inter viam que se extendit ab oriente in occidentem versus aquilonem tenend et habend sibi et successoribus suis plenarie et pacifice in perpetuum Insuper ego Alanus quietam clamavi hanc prefatam terram cum suis pertinenciis de me et de heredibus meis prefatis ecclesie et canonicis in perpetuum et in mea ligea potestate et prosperitate vite mee posui in plenariam saisinam predicte terre cum suis pertinenciis dominum Ricardum tunc abbatem de Waltham coram tota curia sua apud Wrengle anno secundo translationis beati Thome martiris tercio idus Septembris Preterea dedi et hac eadem carta confirmavi eisdem ecclesie et canonicis in puram et perpetuam elemosinam homagium et servicium xij denariorum per annum Agnetis filie Aseline et heredum suorum quod ipsa et heredes sui michi debuerunt annuatim et cui illud assignare vellem Et in huius mee donationis testimonium hanc cartam eis feci et eam sigillo meo signavi Hiis testibus Symone filio Symonis le Bret et cetera
