Fine made before Geoffrey, bishop of Ely and other justices between the prior and convent and Matilda, daughter of Reginald after an assize of mort d'ancestor concerning one virgate in West Haddon. The right of Matilda proved: henceforth she shall hold the land at a rent of 5s. p.a. However, the men of the priory who currently hold the land shall do so until next Easter when the prior shall hand over the land. Northampton. Date: Sunday after All Saints, 35 [sic] Henry 11 (recte 6 November 1188). Strictly 35 Henry II finished with the king's death on 6 July - hence there was no festival of All Saints in that regnal year. But for the dating of fines at the end of Henry II's reign vid. supra no. 654 n.l. Feast Regnal
