Tsar Kaloyan informs Innocent III that Cardianal Leo, the papal legate, has safely arrived in Bulgaria, bringing the crown, banner and scepter, and that he has performed the coronation ceremony. Kaloyan also tells the Pope of his strained relations with Hungary and the Latins of Constantinople.
