Abstract: 586 ff.115] Relaxacio cuiusdam placee terre in brueria de Hoppelega. Jas. of Audley quitclaims a piece of land on Hopley heath which the abbey had claimed by a writ of novel disseisin. Jas. acknowledges in court that the land pertains to the abbey's grange of Hopley and that it may cultivate the land as it pleases, provided he can have common pasture after harvest. The abbey may grind its corn free of toll at Jas.'s mill in return for allowing him to have an abutment to his millpond and the overflow of the water-of the fishpond as far as a certain oak tree (1256). Abstract: 284 Pro seperali ibidern The burgesses of Shrewsbury, in return for f20, allow the abbot and convent to enclose the land belonging to its grange of Derfald and exclude the burgesses from their rights of common except on a certain piece of heath which lies in length between the ditch running from Shrewsbury and the Great Slade towards Pimley, and in breadth between the road leading to Haughmond and the bank of the Severn.
