Abstract: 177. Notification by Osbert fitz Hugh that the dispute between him and the monks concerning the advowson and patronage of the church of All Saints in Worcester was settled thus in the presence of Bishop Roger- the advowson and patronage belong to Osbert and the parson presented by him shall pay a pension of 1-2 mark to the monks. 9 April 1175. Abstract: 277. Notification by Robert [Foliot], bishop of Hereford, and Simon, abbot of St Albans, judges-delegate of Pope Alexander III, of the settlement before them of the action brought by Reading Abbey against Bristol Abbey concerning the churches of Berkeley Hernesse. Bristol shall hold the churches in the name of Reading and shall pay Reading 20 marks annually, and the two abbeys shall co-operate in recovering from Gloucester Abbey what has been withheld from the same, and shall share equally between them the acquisitions they may secure. Abstract: 166. Notification by Osbert fitz Hugh that he has confirmed to the monks his father's gift of the church of St. Augustine of Dodderhill in Droitwich, so that only he and his next heir shall present a parson to that church and that the first parson so presented shall pay 0.5 mark of silver annually to the monks, while subsequent parsons shall pay 20s., and after the death of Osbert and his next heir the church shall be converted to the use of the monks, saving the possession of the parson previously instituted. Abstract: 256. Notification by Bartholomew bishop of Exeter, papal judge-delegate, that the suit between the Hospitallers and the monks concerning the chapels of East Walton and Slebeck (co. Pembr.) was settled (through the mediation of Roger bishop of Worcester and Richard bishop of Winchester, see no. 257) thus- since their chapels and the mother church of Wiston are unprofitable to the monks because they are remote from Worcester and hostile incursions are frequent, the monks have granted the church of Wiston with all its appurtenant chapels etc. to the Hospitallers at a rent of 10 1-2 marks annually charged upon certain places temporarily until within 5 years the Hospitallers shall have assigned to the monks rents of 10 1-2 marks in one or two places in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. 1175.
